Reading this book gives the same feeling as watching an episode of a British murder mystery at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon in my grandma's living room: it's interesting and yet a little boring at the same time, has likeable characters, and you can't put it down until you know whodunnit.
I wish I had more experience with the mystery genre to know if this is *too* easy to read or just the standard for the genre.

this book is flying by but I'm going about it in such a slow way. I'm not sure why I'm not inspired to stick with it for periods of time. I'm not engaging with.. I guess the entire premise? it's turning into an inheritance games situation and I don't care for that at all, it's cheapening all the other unique things about this story. I also detest the awkward attempts at injecting romance, it's incredibly unnecessary.

I haven't read very many murder mysteries so it might just be my inexperience with the genre mixed with my Anglophilic tendencies, but this has been such a fun read so far! At 17% we've already been introduced to a ton of characters, a few of which fall a little flat but the most important are written well. Switching back and forth between the two timelines is really working for me so far.
