It is quite fascinating learning how he grew up and how independent he was. I was pleased to learn that he strongly opposed Andrew Jackson’s Indian Bill and voted against it while in office causing quite a ruckus. He could foresee the suffering and deaths that would occur by forcing the Native Americans from their homes. His book concludes in 1834. He would die 2 years later at the Alamo.
