Reading this aloud to my partner. Such a pleasure to read aloud, even though I've never read it before. The prose is so fluid and his grasp of tropes so strong that characters' voices become clear very shortly before they're introduced, and it's easy to know what tone should be adopted in a given scene. The story's pretty great too, of course, if not anything new.
