Ya maybe he would’ve said it to appease her, but I really don’t buy that Henry “I want to own most of France” II would’ve actually wanted to divorce Eleanor, even if he did really love Rosamund. He imprisoned Eleanor up until his death over divorcing her so he wouldn’t lose her lands.

How much I’ll like this book is going depend on how Eleanor is treated in this. She was by no means an Angel, but I also don’t blame her for being pissed about her husband’s public cheating, and stories that paint her as this evil, jealous old woman are unfair and misogynistic, especially when they don’t hold Henry accountable for his actions

I guess 2024 is Eleanor of Aquitaine book year for me.
