Comparing Adam Levine's 2022 setting scandal to Mr. Darcy is...a choice.
She's *upset* that Wickham was paid off to marry Lydia, and it's colored her view of P&P in a way that is harmful and reductive, in my opinion. And as unsavory a choice as marrying Wickham might be, it's not like Lydia had other, better options, particularly since she ran off with Wickham OF HER OWN ACCORD. Tess of the D'urbervilles, anyone?
