This was after a chapter on restoring a forest previously logged out of existence by a couple. I learned our forest lands are named with numbers and old growth forest replacement is not preferred - tall trees for future timber are encouraged.

I just noticed the brilliant organization of this book. I finished the chapters on Dr Kimmerer’s first hike with students v one that is more fine tuned and brave. Afterwards, she got into how the preservation the hike benefitted from before “the squatters” could be restored by field-loving biologists. What a beautiful day of reading hope.

Raw materials are a gift we need to understand to use efficiently.

I never knew a story about a woman dredging a pond with a rake for swimming over 12 years could give me this much peace.
