The novel is somewhat confusing. The larger bolder text is supposedly Crane’s novel The Painted Boy, but reality seems to be included in the story. Interesting.

A wonderfully written novel about gay life in turn of the 20th century in New York. It keeps getting better and better as moves on.

It is an historical novel with characters who lived at the turn of the 20th century. An odd book nonetheless from an author who writes about life in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
