I always start Indian autobiographies thinking about the vast differences between South and East Asians.
That's a distinction that's reinforced professionally and personally. Exhibit A: My Punjabi friend forwards me an article explaining why East Asians have less financial success (relatively speaking).
Actually reading the autobiographical inevitably shows me the many eerie and comforting similarities.

Koul explores racism, class, and colorism. She and her family face racism in the US while being lighter and caste privileged in India. Her niece Raisin is viewed by the family and others as extra beautiful due to her white mother.
Her father's response and confusion to the DEI editorial tweet about diverse writers was heartbreaking. Kudos to her for discussing trans, nonbinary, and racial representation.
