It’s hard not to compare the development of the Old World with that of the New World. The New World’s entrance into agriculture was delayed mainly due to the lack of nutritious plants that could be easily farmed, but with jolted progression the combination of corn and beans was established. Laying the groundwork for future civilisation.

There are 2 main sources involved with the study of Mesoamerican cultures, that of the colonisers which often comes with the perspective of dealing with savage backwards people and that from the grandchildren of these cultures which communicate the political reality and complexities of societies that developed states etc. just like their European counterparts.
