I’m not sure how to parse the allusions to Job, when compared to Faust. However, so far it seems that Faust is obsessed with achieving a level of Truth that would equate to him having god-like powers. It seems like he’s already nearly there.
But Goethe really seems to be advising is to quite literally touch grass (and experience the warmth of Jesus Christ)

Starting with a sort of meta-narrative of what art is for audience and artist is an interesting choice. Through 3 different figures it seems Goethe hopes to both entertain and “communicate” the world through fiction, whilst still demonstrating the development of the artist.
