I think that recording Moby Dick has made me appreciate how prosodic the text is. If that prosody only comes to you with great effort, or not at all, I suspect you might find this book hard as hell and maybe a little boring or tiresome.

I believe that it's worthwhile to find the melody in this tune. The payoff is as close to an American Shakespeare as you're likely ever to get.
