I'm just sitting here and being a good girl trying to further my education as a future American... Why do you ask? :P

Interesting how the lyrics came to be written, I hadn't heard about "broadsheet ballads" before. So fitting that the author's father was a Maryland militiaman whilst his uncle fought for the British during the American Revolution and that he was himself in the militia in the War of 1812, getting inspired for the verses whilst on a British ship with American hostages...
Family feuds lead to great songs, who knew? :D

As often as I sing this song for events, this sounds like a book I should investigate. Great song, (even if it can be challenging to sing to sing if started in the incorrect key), but I often wish the third verse was sung as opposed to the first as it has the most meaning. Looking forward to your thoughts.

I gotta learn the whole song or I'll fail the test one day. 😄
Pardon my ignorance, but is that really a requirement? Interesting. I'm sure you could learn it quickly. Best wishes with your studies.

Does your screenreader tell you about emojis? I don't include them when I reply to you just in case, because the screenreader my relative uses doesn't and only tells her "image, image, image."
LOL!! I thought it might be a joke, but you never know, and the screenreader voice doesn't always convey that. Ha! Great one!No. The screenreader doesn't usually tell what emoji is being shown. Like with your relative, it will simply say "Image". Strangely, sometimes it will describe a picture someone's posted but with the barest minimum of words. Example: 'Image may contain dog. Or "Image may contain two people and food."
Thanks. And, i'm glad you know The Star-Spangled Banner." LOL!

Just what I had suspected! Thank you for confirming it for me, Meredith. I never use emojis with my blind relative when I have to text her, voice notes are my preference (and hers). I'll add "haha" and "LOL" when I reply to you, then! So you can know I'm joking.
But overall it's a good idea to assume I'm making a joke, I do it all the time.
