Interesting how the lyrics came to be written, I hadn't heard about "broadsheet ballads" before. So fitting that the author's father was a Maryland militiaman whilst his uncle fought for the British during the American Revolution and that he was himself in the militia in the War of 1812, getting inspired for the verses whilst on a British ship with American hostages...
