Jordan, Egypt, Syria, and Iraq also all had their own territorial ambitions in Palestine that were often in competition with the ambitions of the other Arab states. This disunity and lack of a single overriding set of war aims would cause dissent among the Arab armies and would prevent them from acting as a single unified force, something that Israel would successfully exploit.
