I liked the fantasy vibes, and the setting. But the plot is pretty weak, and the dialogue is even weaker. Perhaps someone else should've contributed for the written part of the graphic novel, or Beck should've spent more time working on it. It has a lot of potential but fell fairly flat. I want to love it but just can't. Also, wish the verse was at the front so I decode throughout reading instead of having to go back

The art is beautiful, in an understated kind of way. Some of the characters, like Neitya, are just gorgeous. I'm not sure why Fife's character design was so androgynous though, its not a plot point, the characters can all tell, it's just confusing for the reader. And I don't know why Goodreads has this labelled as LGBT because they're not written as androgynous, and there is no romance in this book.

At first I thought Fife was a wife, but then who I thought was her "husband" turned out to be her dad. So I was like, ok, she's just a daughter that looks almost as old as her dad. Whatever. And I'll admit Fife looked more youthful in some of the following art. But like... an older teen/YA. When characters called Fife a "kid" on sight I was confused. Now half way through they're all saying "he". Fife is a boy!?
