I have read the first part of this book. I tried to read it all before my trip to Japan as I am very much interested in Japanese culture and food and this book did not disappoint. It has a great pace and the right level of detail for someone interested in the history and context of Japanese cuisine while also giving enough background about the historic context that led to such changes in Japan's gastronomy.
