I read the two Hugo Award nominees - "Seeds of Mercury" by Wang Jinkang and "Life Does Not Allow Us to Meet” by He Xi. Both novelettes are by far the most "science fictional" of the 2024 nominees. 4* for "Seeds of Mercury" (5 if only the ending) (I still hope it wins) and 2, maybe 3, for "Life Does Not...". Both feature science, technology, and spaceships. And more.
