I listened to this fast as it was about to go off availability on plus. This may be part of the reason I didn't like it as much. These two held themselves apart from each other due to trust issues and misconceptions. Eva's mother had been kidnapped by Scots and her father told her she was dead. In end, the mother was cousin to Robert the Bruce.

Strath was haunted by the betrayal of his handfasted lady. As he was drawn to Eva, his men were worried and one tried to stir up trouble. In end troublesome one accepted whipping instead of battling Strath. Then Eva went and tended his wounds thereby gaining the respect of all. He father was faking being addled in the mind since he was quite cunning.
