Butler's history of outright attacks against marriage for LGBTQ+ is powerful. During my 1st college semester, I was surrounded by literature and women's studies majors. The syllabi from these classes were everywhere. After completing midterms, I would read these course books for fun. That's when I knew that none of these subjects would be my major. Books focused on these topics would fill my entire adult life. Do Women's Studies majors spend years reading my selected topic? Doubtful.
