This is fun and all but it’s just lacking character depth IMO. I’m curious what will happen next but I don’t *care* about characters like I did in Anna Karenina and somewhat Crime and Punishment.

Heard it has a big payoff so I’m keeping on.

I’ve seen the movie a dozen times which is excellent. The book is just as good!

Actually going to DNF this attempt and restart alongside Les Mis in a year or two. I was listening to the Blackstone Audiobook and I've heard repeatedly that the Buss Translation, which only exists in print, is the best translation. I'd rather restart with that translation than force listen to this one and miss the richness.

Got through the rough section. Much more fun now! Just in time for my loan on Libby to expire. Will continue in a few weeks.

Current section is a bit of a slog. Felt the same way about Anna Karenina but then once I finished that book it changed my life so holding out for Dumas to bring the magic.
