"because of its repetitive nature, complex trauma is fundamentally relational trauma... caused by bad relationships with other people -- people who were supposed to be caring and trustworthy and instead were hurtful. For about the first half of this book, I found I chafed against some things Foo said. Soome misconceptions about the mind, the quick way she dismissed different techniques and therapies, things like that. But as I went along this lessened and I found as the book continued on, as a reflection of her own mentally journey, I enjoyed it more and more. Some truly wonderful insights occur near the books conclusion
