Most depressing book ever. Okay, admitedly I haven't finished it. Things could turn around for our protagonist and she could have a happy ending! Remains to be seen.

The Handmaid's Tale gave me chills. Dystopian world where women are slaves to serve certain purposes? *shivers*

Finished it. I saw this quote in a review of the book by Alan Weiss. He said, "Atwood.........produces a heroine whose sole resistance goes on inside her head, a resistance at once indistinguishable from passivity and masochism and uncomfortably synonymous with traditional stereotypes of feminine behaviour." Yeah, that's about right. Resisting that only goes on inside one's head is not very effective and not feminism. It just becomes bitterness.
