I love Ava Reid! Such beautifully gory writing. I appreciate the monsters and both our main characters Evike and Gaspar. The continuous banter between them is strewn with undertones of religious differences and skewed perceptions of each other because of this. I also really love the difference of their morality and how that causes a friction that also somehow brings them together as well. Excited to keep reading!

Ughhhh it was so good until now. The pacing was something I really loved about this book yet it feels very dragged on right now. I know we need to see Evike interacting with other people and be without Gaspar but.. everyone bores me except them sadly. Evike is kinda going through the motions of rekindling with her father and in the city under kings orders yet nothing actually has happened in the past 3 chapters lol
