OK the story is developing but it feels like every other sentence is a run-on sentence... Loving the story but struggling with McBride's writing style :/ I remember feeling this way when I read Deacon King Kong as well.

....and I was in awe of how he could write such a long sentence that actually made sense! I guess our brains process information differently - not a surprise : )
