I know this is YA so I'm not really expecting too much depth. The female lead -- Amelia -- is, however, an incredibly selfish, manipulative brat. I really don't like her at all. Jesse, at this point, is the only reason to read the book.

I liked Samantha and the Cowboy much more even though it was an over-used trope. I just can't warm up to Amelia. Maybe she'll have an epiphany at some point and it will have all been worth it, but right now she is so self-centered. Jesse is a very sympathetic character, though and he's why I want to keep reading.
