Really really good! Right now it's going over the fact that we are all narcissists to some extent. Perhaps there's a pattern of behavior and the term "narcissist" just happens to be at the end of the spectrum. Actually, I should look into "Psychopathy Within" by Eve Maram. Psychopathy, psych- for soul, patho, "logos, word, or expression" is the expression of the suffering of the soul. Probably in my upcoming reads.

The remainder of the chapter and then the next one were about shortsightedness, the value of patience, and to detach ourselves from immediate events. We can't always foresee how our actions will play out in the future, but we can continuously adapt by re-defining / induction through our journey in the passage of time.

Went over gauging people's characters, how they behave in moments of stress, several toxic type archetypes, the origin of these archetypes, and their off-putting behavior.

Most people have some of these traits, and because character is ingrained, one must turn these weaknesses into strength.

I don't know if I agree, because personality is malleable up until you hit 30 or so, according to psychologist Meg Jay.

It is currently going over body language. 65% of all communication is non-verbal, yet only 5% is absorbed. The key is to establish a baseline level of emotion for the person. Once you notice coldness, hostility, or a sudden excitement, these are sure signs to be on guard.
Something else to look out for is the slightest bit of envy or dislike if you share good news with a person, it's relief from their true feelings.

Going over the interpretation of Shackleton's leadership as he led his men through what was deemed an impossible journey across a large body of water. 800 MILES in a small boat. And he would check on his men's attitudes because this was the determining factor of whether they would live or not. To have THAT much power as a leader, and continuously maintain the zeitgeist of the men... I NEED that kind of power!

The author is sort of coming to the conclusion that a lot of the catastrophes that happen in our life is often because of irrationality. The discrepancies between the life we want and the one we have, (if we aren't happy, that is) is because we are often irrational and think we're in control, but we never really are and accepting this is vital. He goes on to describe rational and irrational people, their differences.
