Learning about the Vincy's, Bulstrodes, and Featherstones.
Dr. Lydgate also appears to be an important character. I noticed again and again the modern and sharp quality in Eliot's humor.

This book is such a delight. I don't know why I waited for so many years before picking this up.

A lot has happened in the last 50 pages. Dorothy is beginning to see. She's beginning to, with difficulty, question the extent of Mr. Casoubon's knowledge and also beginning to doubt the need of his project.
On the other side, Will Ladislaw is, I think, in love with Dorothea. And as a result of it he has renounced Mr. C's assistance.

Mrs. Cadwallader has just entered the scene.
Eliot is really witty. I like the glimpses of wry humor in the story.

Beginning to understand Dorothea. Tbh Eliot has painted her a bit of a pompous fool who is genuinely passionate about religion but also struggles to consistently temper her attitude to the standards she holds for herself.
I find the holier-than-thou attitude really annoying. But this is just a start and I'm sure she'll grow on me. Celia for all her "inferior intellect" is way more preceptive and practical.
