When Justin and Flavius discover they are cousins! <3 I think the word "kinsman" is so infinitely nicer.

Justin's sweet shyness in how he is always gratefully surprised for friendliness in others, although he is quick to give it - ohhh. <3

I love how Justin stands his ground when the Emperor is looking him in the eye. He's so brave and unwavering. His heart never stutters! <3

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I opened this beloved book last night to reread it and I literally had tears in my eyes. It's so beautiful it defies description, so masterful it makes me ache. Even the opening historical note, is crafted with a wondrous story telling voice.

I literally had to muffle screams as I read the opening pages. <3 <3 <3
