This third section is a great critique of *Marx's views on religion* specifically

His analysis of capitalism is really good and his analysis of religion as well but he really drops the ball when it comes to communism which really bothers me!!! Like he's just fully wrong

I'm live tweeting atp but I just feel like he's confusing the analysis of economy/society as the analysis of individual humans (which I don't think is reasonable). I feel like he's applying determinism in a way that doesn't make sense. Dialectical materialism is a mode of analysis and the way contradictions play out is not set in stone like he's implying ?

I just wanna chime in and say I agree with his base ideas but he's being unfairly critical to "communist countries" (what country has ever truly reached communism?) when everyone is still being forced to survive under capitalist global hegemony, it's not fair to place socialist and capitalist nations on the same level of critique from this perspective imo

Finished "On Humanism." I agree that the argument marxists end up making is fundamentally based on moral values even though they swear up and down that it is not

Halfway into On Humanism and I just feel like this is a bad faith interpretation of Marxism and it ignores all the other developments in like postcolonial marxist tradition in general so idk but I'm curious to see the rest, I think the main points make sense
