A note to the author Sarah Shoemaker - “clean Monday” is NOT the first Monday after Easter. It is the first Monday of Lent.
So far this books is good. I like reading about Liana and her loving Greek family and her difficult mother in law. Knowing that the book is leading up to the horrible 1923 events in Smyrna perpetrated by the Turks is giving me anxiety, though!
