I'm normally a fairly fast reader and have admittedly skimmed paragraphs more than once, but this isn't one of those books, at least so far. The writing style has a lot of descriptive detail which for a detective procedural seems important to read thoroughly. It's interesting so far, but considering it's set in Dublin, there aren't a lot of of Irish idioms or other language indicators of the location.

Im struggling to enjoy this one. It moves slow, and Det. Rob Ryan is terrible at his job. His relationship with his partner is clearly inappropriate and he's being manipulated by the girl Rosalind, which is so obvious to any reader. Not sure I'm enjoying it as much as I had hoped

The case is interesting but progresses soooooo slow. And both detectives are shit at interviews. They arent learning anything bc they arent pursuing any lines of questioning. It's very irritating to read. If you are going to write a detective novel, stuff needs to progress somehow- clues, reveals, literally anything
