I have started to read this book to my wife again . The story promises to be an interesting insight into life in the mid 1800's, but at the same time, the language used - that is, the words that are no longer in common usage, make the story difficult for me to read aloud and for her to understand. That said, the story is good.

Jane's beginnings were as an orphan in the home of her aunt, who mistreated her in favor of her natural children. At this point in the story, Jane has been moved to a charity boarding school. Conditions there don't seem to very good. We will learn more, maybe things are not really as bad as they first appear.
