Reading this is like watching a car wreck

The way that Native Americans are discussed and portrayed here is really uncomfortable? from a historical perspective yes Native Americans were scary to white settlers, at the same time, white people were slowly encroaching on their territory, and no where in this book is that a conversation. Lonesome Dove, a book written decades ago, still humanized native Americans, even if they were often in an adversarial role.

JFC I was expecting this to be more fun flirty lady doctor western adventure, not a true western in the sense that it’s super fucking violent and people die constantly.

YO if I had a nickel for every birthing scene I’ve read in historical fiction/romance where the baby is breeched, and the doctor has to MANUALLY TURN THE BABY I’d have several nickel!! Thank GOD for modern medicine
