It's wild to me that in this British book the author has to engage with people seeing Dr. Crippen as a tragic, romantic figure. In any American accounts of Dr. Crippen's crimes he's a devious, disturbed man who murdered his wife, butchered her corpse, and buried her in the basement before trying to escape England with his lover.
