I'm a little surprised this book hasn't mentioned Josie and The Pussycats as an early, positive representation of Black people in television animation. Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions a bit, but Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids is getting a whole section right now and there's been no mention of Josie. From what I can find, Josie predates Fat Albert by two years so intriguing that it hasn't come up yet.

I just got to the part about Rocky and Bullwinkle and I hadn't seen an episode before and omg it's soooo good. Y'all need to see this...
