Between David and I... between him and... I? Okay, I'm not a native English speaker, but it still sounds jarring.

Even if it's a 5-star book, it's going to get 4, because the audio is trash - the narration is not rhythmic, the narrator takes breaths at the wrong moments, people just don't speak like it, and the intonation is all over the place. Sad.
