“Just like the art of Kintsugi, what once broken is repaired not to hide its flaws but to celebrate them as part of what is to become beautiful.” P.65–66

There’s some really deep, hard-to-grasp philosophy in here. It’s not the kind of book I can skim—or if I were to skim, I would gain little.

“Artists already live in the abundance of God. […] they see a vista beyond the world of gray utility; they desire to paint in color […] God does not just mend, repair, and restore; God renews and generates […]” P.31

“Many have argued that the reason we have an innate drive toward beauty is to attract and be attracted to mates. […] When that is the framework for the choices we make, altruism does not make sense; it seems like wasting time to create beauty or to stop and pay attention to the least of these in an act of mercy.” P.27

“What I offer as culture care is a consideration of the work of the Spirit in culture. In other words, we ask not just how you or I may be doing as a follower of Christ; we also ask audaciously, “How is our culture doing?” P.22
