Chapter 18 on the coffee question draws parallels to life today. Consumers and the govt alike debated how cheap was too cheap for coffee. Plantation managers themselves struggled financially, meaning that they also benefited from a market that paid workers accurately for their labor. Nowadays I’m not sure if managers of cheap labor are under the same financial struggles
