I must know what season this book takes place in! It's impossible to tell, but can make all the difference in the upcoming climax. If sunlight hurts the "people", the Emperor or King or whoever he is should've schedule the Hunt for the WINTER solstice in the far northern or southern hemisphere. Yet they're simply by the Vast, a desert located geographically somewhere.

Quite a number of questions are coming up for me. Hoping they will be answered. They're minor enough, big picture, but niggling nonetheless.
