anyways not to over-intellectualize but i am interested in the enormous pull of supernatural romance as both a reviled cultural object and as escapist fantasy geared toward women.... can we trace this genre back to carmilla and to some extent dracula? toxic love interests ala wuthering heights? maybe i should just read carmilla
