When writting the 5th book of an overreachig worldbuilding with many other characters from other books series, you either do not reference things that happened in those books, or, you do and trust the reader to know or to accept it happened in another book and go get that book. I will even take a footnote with the reference (comics do it all the time). What is not acceptable is you explaining to me in the text!
