THIS IS WHAT I GET FOR PUSHING THROUGH?!!! THIS IS HOW MY PERSISTENCE IS REWARDED?!!! God I should have listened to my instincts and DNFed

My god, I am absolutely furious. I knew it was coming, I tried to convince myself it wasn’t possible, and yet, here we are. Kilian is the fucking king, as if it’s totally normal for a realm to let their king fuck about for 8 months in enemy territory. Not to mention the lack of sense. Somehow, still I knew what should not have been possible. I still knew the ridiculousness was coming. Fuck this book

I don’t understand?!!! She is openly working against her father and yet he continues to let her run free. In no world would this happen. She has nothing over him it makes no fucking sense

My god this is unending.

I have started googling spoilers to keep myself motivated

The leads have are not tipping towards miscommunication and I am not pleased. They want each other and both think the other doesn’t and yet they keep speaking pretty words so it feels disingenuous that they are having doubts and it’s getting to be grating

So I am soldiering on. I must say the writing is either improving or my standards are dropping. It’s possible the author just has a hard time fleshing out the details and world building and now that we have established the setting and the characters her strengths are coming through.

It also appears her banter is getting better as is the flirting. The relationship is budding at an appropriate speed

Why is she so bad at playing along? And why are her insults so juvenile but she thinks so is so mature.

And why are these scenes so short! They feel so incomplete and disjointed, she should have combined many of them to create more flow

Why the fuck does she think she knows her father?!!!!!! She was a damn child when she was exiled and hasn’t see him in 13 years and pretends she knows him better than anyone

I am once again forced into a battle of wills between by desire to finish a story and an author trying to bore me into an early grave. Sadly I think I find myself on the losing side.

I am having a hell of a time getting into this one. It’s not really confusing but it’s very uninteresting I guess. The main character and the dialogue is edging towards insufferable. Not to mention she is traveling back to her father’s kingdom to play the part and slowly take down the system from the inside, but goes and threatens him so not sure how that helps her be believable
