remembering how i read half of this book about six years ago and then like, realized that i had no clue what was happening at all, i was waiting for things to fall into place and start making sense but they never did.
not the case this time around, thankfully. i, uh, am actually paying attention to what i'm reading. though it it fairly cryptic and thus complicated, that much is true

incredible tale of vanity, hollow, bored anxiety, delusions of grandeur. so human and true. of those who live on earth i doubt many have not ever indulged in gossip, wishful thinking, limerence. it's the natural state, a result of curiosity, amplified in the case of 19th century aristocracy by boredom in the blood and air, stirred by metal taste of unease in government. incredible. comedic in tragic shakespearean way

incredibly fucking cryptic + an almost omniscient narrator who is however somewhat limited in his knowlegde of events just adds to the confusion. amazing no notes
