currently annoyed by: references to Crime and Punishment being translated into English in 1879 (it was 1885) and a pedantic character saying "Et tu, Brutus?" instead of *the actual line from the play* "et tu, Brute" which sounds better and preserves the vocative case

okay to Dunmore's credit, she acknowledges the error in the author's note. But I don't think the use of Crime and Punishment in the novel was clever enough to justify it and it just was a cherry on top of a confusing attempt at grounding a histrom in history and politics without seeming much interest in the actual history and politics!
