Just finished this section on the Field family. I suppose I realize why certain leftists often do apologia for Stalin. Typical historical books often hype up his brutality which is true. But the CIA gets away scott free with all the ruckus they make. Communism has its flaws but it's not often talked about how so called freedom loving Americans do so much to damage its ideas

I blame this book for me cramming all my requirements loool. Too good I can't put it down. Lee Harvey Oswald has finally been introduced. Little bit different view than the one by Oliver Stone for his 1991 film JFK. This account sees Oswald as a genuine Marxist if a bit naive. Still, the CIA has there prints on him

Finished Chapter 11: Strange Love. It's more or less dedicated to Reinhard Gehlen who ran his own espionage crew in West Germany. He's an ex Nazi, favored by CIA director Allen Dulles. He built this intelligence apparatus for the West to prepare for Soviet invasion. These people are demons.

Just finished the Chapter on Richard Nixon, Joseph McCarthy and the Red Scare. I didn't know that McCarthy actually pissed the CIA off with his witch hunts lool. Interesting how McCarthy and Nixon came from poor backgrounds whereas the eternal power players had "better" upbringing

So I'm reading Alfred McCoy's Policing America's Empire at the same time and I feel like that would get sidelined for this one lol. This is an easier read. No shade on McCoy. I'm reading a pdf of that; I'm reading an epub of Talbot's book. Easier on the eyes. Less technical matters too.
