It's definitely better than book 2, even as a re-read. I remembered the main points, the big reveals and actions, but the exact events were a bit hazy to me, so it was nice to be less familiar with 3. There are still plot holes and gripes, but it strikes me as very true to school-days drama, with Snape especially. It was interesting this time to see how the plot is moved by the year's progression toward exams, etc.

Reading this again as we prepare for our Disney Make-A-Wish trip. We'll probably end up visiting Diagon Alley, Kings Cross, and Hogsmeade on our 12th Anniversary. This is the book I was reading when Ava was diagnosed. They were coming out of the Shrieking Shack when I got the call. I don't think I'll ever forget that. I think this is the best of the series for me though. There are a lot of reasons to like this book.

As usual, there are some bits here and there that just don't seem to add up. Maybe I'm misremembering what happens, but this series has been somewhat sprinkled with little inconsistencies, etc. Not that any of them are really unforgivable; it's mostly smoothed away by Hogwarts' charm. There's just so much to be curious about with the wizarding world, and I can't imagine how Harry isn't more curious about everything.
