this book actually ruins my mood every time I pick it up. free me from the shackles. this is why I'm usually quick to DNF the first few pages if I don't like a book during my first impression. the plot could have been done in 270 pages! "she felt his love" WHAT all he did was look at you and you guys did nothing together. this book is unconvincing, shallow, and very tell-y and not show-y. oops :/

while this is easy to read, it’s wordy and there are too many details included that don’t do anything for the plot. the narrator is a rich white girl & at a certain point i think it’s okay to stop pointing out every Black person she sees. also, while i love me a good romance, the situation at hand feels downplayed because of the trivial somewhat-romantic encounters she has. just finishing it for my book club.
