Lol I thought the 2nd and 3rd books in that series are the strongest (and that book 4 is the biggest pile of shit I've ever read). I did a lot of eye rolling at the beginning of book 1, but was sufficiently invested by the halfway mark. Can't compare to twilight though - I only made it about 20 pages into that one.

I had to go back and verify (from many years ago on Goodreads) that I only read the first book of the Twilight series and not the other ones. This one might be a Did Not Finish for me. I’m burying my nose in the latest Flavia de Luce cozy mystery instead and might abandon this one!

The first book felt like a copy of beauty and the beast. The 2nd and 3rd were much more original and I lived them so much! The last 2 were also good but not as great as 2 and 3 in my opinion. I think pushing through book 1 just to get to 2 is worth it

Ok the first book is slow, especially the first two thirds.. if you finish it and don't get hooked by the last third, you prob won't like the rest of the series. Her Throne of Glass series is much better, in my opinion
