This has got to be one of the most difficult books I have ever had to get through, and I've read a LOT of stupid books, books on difficult topics, and poorly written books. This book is written fine. It's just every other page some European historical figure makes a statement or does something that makes me so angry I have to take a lap. Ex. "'We Jews have nothing in common with...the 'Orient,' thank God.'"

showing up uninvited to a land then claiming that the native people (of your OWN religion) need to be re-educated feels...suspiciously familiar.
