Four stars for Morton Hall! It kinda seemed like a story Anne Shirley would have written. I liked the ending.

Oh my goodness, Lizzie Leigh! 😭😭 I loved it! Such a beautiful prodigal son-type story and even with an older brother.

Miriam Simut I found The Manchester Marriage to be such an odd story! But I loved Gaskell’s storytelling even though I didn’t really care for the story itself. I don’t quite get the point of it. 😅

It was very odd! I loved the beginning of it, and I didn't want it to take that tragic turn. I'm sure that kind of thing did happen when it was so hard to get mail between countries and over oceans, but still. The first husband was super melodramatic!
